Frequently Asked Questions
How long is a session?
Regular therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. The remaining 10 minutes of the hour are used for completing session notes and sanitising the office before another client enters.
What are the rates for 2021?
The fee for 2021 is R950 per session/hour.
Clients on medical aid will be billed at standard medical aid rates, according to their cover. Unless this amout is lower than R950, no co-payment exists.
Will my medical aid pay for therapy?
We are contracted with all South African medical aids and will claim directly from them. Most medical aids do have a mental health benefit, however, the onus is on the client to ensure :
1. That the medical aid will cover sessions
2. That sufficient funds exist in savings, where there is no mental health benefit.
The client is ultimately responsible for the account, and where Medical aids fail to pay, the client will be responsible for payment.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
This is a very individual question. It depends from person to person, and also depends on the reason you are seeking therapy. When you have done the assessment interview (usually in the first two sessions) you and your therapist can decide on a plan going forward, that considers your specific resources and needs. At least a minimum of 6 sessions are needed for brief interventions.
